I started The Book of Negroes on Saturday afternoon and am already on page 105. These days, that is a lot for me! I feel confident that I will be able to get the book finished before the middle of September (there are 470 pages).
I have had a few people ask me what the book is about and who want me to let them know how the book is. For a synopsis of the book, click here. As for how the book is so far....fantastic, depressing, inspiring. I know that I am taken with a book when I can't stop thinking about it. I have been thinking about Aminata all day. I hardly had any time to read the book today but I am looking forward to the next chapter in Aminata's life. It is already so late here (11:30) but I know that I will have to read just a little bit before I go to sleep. Off to bed I go.
Note: I just learned that this book is called Someone Knows My Name in the US, Australia and New Zealand.

I'm so intrigued to learn about the document that inspired the novel. I can't wait to track this down... It must be great for a busy mom to make it 105 pages so quickly.
ReplyDeleteI just put it on reserve at our library so when it is checked back in they hold it for me. Thanks for the recommendation.
ReplyDeleteI am the Lois Lowry reader from SouleMama! Saw your comment on my comment and decided to peek over here at your blog. Going to look around it now.
