Might As Well Face It, I'm Addicted to Blogs

I love the world of blogs. I love reading other blogs (as you can see by my ever-growing blogroll) and I love writing my blog. I think I am a bit of an addict. Really and truly, I spend so much time in front of this computer screen that I feel like I am only half paying attention to my kids most of time. Maybe part of the problem is that my laptop is on a desk in our living/dining room which is where our family spends the majority of time. The laptop is always on, always logged in and always there for me to glance at as I walk by. That is what I do. That is how I get sucked in. I walk by and just intend to take a quick look and before I know it, I am reading comments on my blog, reading new posts of other blogs and 25 minutes have gone by. I then try to re-focus and get back to what I was doing. If I can remember what it was.

I am trying to find a balance between reading blogs/writing blogs and doing things with my kids, tending to the house, the groceries, the laundry etc. Our house has been quite neglected lately because once the kids are in bed I blog. I used to have a little routine of things I would do once the kids were in bed: tidy the kitchen after dinner, put all the toys and books away, sweep the floors and tidy other parts of the house. Now, my house seems a lot more cluttered and unkempt. I also have a slew of other things that need doing in the house. I have a lot of de-cluttering and purging to do but have not found the time to do it.

And then there is my husband. He also likes to blog so there are some evenings where we are both sitting on the couch, each with our own laptops, blogging away. Jeff might as well use my blog as a way of seeing what we did during the day. Well, maybe it is not quite that bad, but close.

So I am wondering, when do you find time to blog? How do you balance your blog time with the rest of your life?

BTW, as I write this post, Lauchlan is playing with trucks and balls in the living room and kitchen. Heather and Addie are shouting from Heather's window to the kids who live next door. Everyone seems happy enough, but it is time to give them some of my undivided attention! The sun is out - we are going to get some fresh air!

  2. Good one. But you got me. Here I am, back at the computer, checking to see if anyone commented!

Back to the sweeping I go!

  3. I'm a sporadic blog poster, mostly because I'm lazy. However, about 20 times a day, I think of something clever I would write about, and then nothing happens. I do read a fair number of blogs, however, and find myself getting irritated if people don't post often (entertain me, dammit!), and then realize the hypocrisy, since I don't update that often myself. Mine is a life of inner turmoil.

  4. i have tried to comment three times and to whatever stupid reason have gotten it wiped out or sidetracked...uggh.

i thought the other night after continuous nights of staying up too late reading blogs that i might be a little (or okay) maybe a lot addicted.

it's always just one or two more then i will start dinner, clean up, take out compost whatever...

and when you find one blog, then you have link to five more great blogs...

who knew there were so many wonderful people out there?

i have promised myself that this week i will be better, splitting the blogroll in half and doing every other day!
