Felted Wreaths

I found this idea in a magazine and since I had already bought several wool sweaters with the intention of felting them, this project was perfect!

Once the sweaters have been felted, cut up the fabric into squares.  I did all of this by hand as I don't have a rotary cutter!  A rotary cutter would have made the job much faster!

Felted squares ready to go.

Use a needle to put the squares on embroidery floss.

Tie the embroidery floss together.
The mag recommends using 60 squares.

Add ribbons.

I got this idea from a holiday craft magazine, Family Fun - Christmas edition.

  1. this craft turned out so well, by the looks of your photos, tricia!
felting is an option with knitting, too...like you knit a handbag and felt it, or a hat, for example. i have never tried felting - it intimidates me! love the look, though, and good for you for trying it!!
