We are supposed to get some snow today, so I wanted to finish it before the ice pieces on the ground got buried. Also, it is supposed to be 11 degrees on Tuesday!!! I'm so annoyed! I don't love the freezing temperatures, but I wish it would stay below zero for a few weeks!
Addie and Lauchy helping yesterday after school.
As we worked on this yesterday, so many people stopped to chat and comment. A woman in her car actually pulled over to watch and chat. Another woman in the neighbourhood wants to come back and take photos. People love this kind of thing! It is a great way to chat with neighbours and pedestrians!
Final product! It looks a little wobbly, but we cemented
the ice together by pouring water over it was we went along.
We added a few smaller sculptures in front (inspired
by friends who live around the corner from us).
This balloon popped before all the water froze.
It is hollow on the inside.
I've seen a few blogs where you can do this with balloons and then insert electric tea lights inside. Very pretty! I also saw this idea - put a small, plastic toy inside and let it freeze. Very cool!

what a fantastic creation, tricia! congrats to you and the kids on this work of art. what a wonderful way to "landscape" the front yard in winter!
