In 2011 we teamed up with our neighbour to make an ice sculpture. You can see the progress here, here and here. Once the ice was out of the containers, I put many of them back into our shed so that we could make another sculpture in 2012. We had such a mild winter last year that there was never an extended period of below zero temperatures.
I was so excited when I saw that the weather for the next week or so is going to be very cold. We can finally get these containers out of the shed and make something fun!
Food colour ready to go.
I always come up with these "fun" (and labour-intensive) projects and Jeff is always a good sport about helping me. I know that he had real work to do, but he was still out there filling up the containers in -12 weather! What a great husband!
We also seem to use a lot of half-and-half cream!
Busy Lauchy!
Jeff is working hard out there!
In 2011 we also filled up balloons with water and used them as decorations.
We can finally make the frozen balloons again this year!
We can finally make the frozen balloons again this year!
Now that the containers are being used we have even more space in the shed!
We will need it as we pack up the house for the sabbatical!
We need to wait another day or so for the big containers (above) to completely freeze before we start to build. Check back soon!

That is completely amazing Tricia.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea - now all we need is sub zero temps here too and I will attempt our own mini version.
It is a lot of work, but a lot of fun! We are getting above zero temps, soon, so not sure how long it will last! :(
