When Lauchlan came out of school today, he was holding a "sustificate"and he told me that he gets to go to "the jump place". I didn't have time to look at the certificate because we had to hurry to collect Addie, but Addie mentioned a certificate that she had, as well. We then rushed to the back of the school to get Heather and she, too, mentioned a certificate.
It seems that twice a year, each teacher chooses two students from their class, a boy and a girl, who get to miss a day of school and go to "Jump", an indoor play place. We couldn't believe that all 3 kids were chosen and we wondered if they intentionally choose siblings. Heather was convinced that they were chosen because they are new to the school. I tried to tell her that there have been other new families to the school this year and that I didn't think that had anything to do with it. Whatever the reason, we are SO proud of them!
The head teacher came to me and said, "Congratulations on your children. You must be very proud". He hold me that the teachers don't meet with one another to discuss who they are choosing. He also said that this is the first time that 3 siblings have been chosen at the same time and it has nothing to do with us being new to the school.
The certificates said:
- This is to certify that Heather has been nominated to attend values day for the following reasons: settling into a new school and country so well, being a good friend, showing positive attitudes and behaviour.
- This is to certify that Adelaide has been nominated to attend values day for the following reasons: Since joining our class in September she has continually impressed me by: listening carefully, working well with others and being an excellent role model. A true inspiration.
- This is to certify that Lauchy has been nominated to attend values day for the following reasons: is a star for always being an outstanding member of our class. He is always kind and has excelled in all areas of learning. He also inspires others with his amazing creativity.
We didn't realize just how big a deal this is, but I guess it is! Addie and Lauchy both had other kids congratulate them. I think they go to Jump in January and they will all be there at the same time.
As my blog title says, we are beaming with pride! Way to go kids!
